I’m going to have to remember this tomorrow:

if all goes as planned, I’ll finish my first marathon tomorrow morning.

I had this long post planned out in my head (which I planned out while on a long run) about motivation and running. But right now I’m just a bundle of nervous energy and can’t think.

I know I’ll need a mantra to get me through it… and this is it.

(p.s. if anyone knows the source of this poster, please let me know so I can credit appropriately!)

You may recognize her from here or here or here... a long time, loyal, awesome client. I LOVE watching clients families grow and this wee one will have a little sister soon!  She wasn’t even talking at her one year shoot and this year she was a total, HILARIOUS chatterbox :-).

Also love these props mom brought. Who dosen’t love a little Hungry Caterpiller?

Once there was a tree.

and every day

the boy would come

and he would gather her leaves…

and make them into crowns,

and play King of the Forest.

He would climb up her trunk

and swing from her branches…

… and eat apples.

And they would play hide-and-go-seek.

And when he was tired, he would sleep in her shade.

And the boy loved the tree.

very much.

And the tree was happy.

(note: this is a repost from my old blog
but I love it so much I wanted it on this one too)

So Kaylee (my seven year old- the one without a filter) told me the other day that I looked like a monster when I took my makeup off. I laughed- cause, well that’s just how Kaylee rolls… I think we have finally gotten it through her head to never, EVER ask anyone if they have a baby in their belly without asking us first in private. I did finally figure out that she was referring to the period between greasy black mascara removal and face washing.

At least I hope that’s what she meant.

And just last month, I told Emily I was going to her school to volunteer at their class party. Before she dared show any excitement, she asked me to “please wear nice clothes (i.e. get out of gym clothes), and makeup.”

It’s not that I don’t like looking nice. I am just totally, completely and utterly lazy about my appearance 95% of the time and just can’t make myself care what I look like during an ordinary work-at-home/pick kids up from school/run kids around to sports/go to grocery store kind of day :-).

Anywho, the whole point of me telling you that was that this senior had not a stitch of makeup on (OK, I am lying… she did put on a tiny bit of lip gloss). She was absolutely perfect and natural the way she was.

And here are my little nieces. I snapped these last month when my awesome sister in law babysit my four kids with her own two kids so Jesse and I could go see Matt Nathanson (looooovvvvvvveeeeeeeee me some Matt Nathanson) last week.  Poor thing- we were already at the concert before we realized leaving her with six kids, including her 3 month old, was probably just a wee bit harder than we all thought it would be.

Don’t forget to “like” SpryArt on Facebook! I promise I’ll be putting some goodies out there only on the FB page!

… wonder what she was thinking?

Love is all you need.

Every year, (well every year since last year) I try to take a picture of my kids that is somehow associated with “love.” Here is their picture from last year.

Welcome!  Wow, I’m so excited you are here!

This blog has been a long time in the making, but I have to give a quick shout to my girl Reni with Bliss & Tell Branding. Love her and highly recommend her if you need any creative/graphic/branding work done!

I’ll be tweaking this blog and my new site for the next couple of weeks (I know some of the links are not working yet!), but I couldn’t wait a second longer to launch my new business name and sites. They are  OBNOXIOUSLY overdue… I have had the logo/concept for my new brand for about nine months now!

OK, I haven’t blogged on my old blog for months now because I have been waiting on this one, so where to start?  I have so many sessions that were never posted!  I want to start with pictures of my new home office! I kicked Emily out of her room (don’t feel bad for her, we built an addition onto the house for her-more on THAT later), and turned it into my office. I’ve been in it a few months now and love finally having my own space! Officing out of the master bedroom was just not working for so many reasons!

This is probably the only time you will ever see it this clean and organized (unless you are a new client and I have shoved everything in one of the desk drawers).  I’m so right brained!

The custom upholstery on the bench and my office chair I had made are some of my favorite parts of the office. Who says you have to have a boring black office chair? I picked out some killer Ikat fabric and turned an ordinary chair into a showpiece! When Jesse saw it for the first time he said, “Well, you aren’t afraid of color are you?”

A couple of things I would have done differently if I could go back in time- 1) I would not have tried to match the stain on the new wood floors to the floors that run through the rest of my house. Even though we had the rest of our floors refinished a year ago, new wood just does not take stain- even the exact same color stain- the same way that 20 year old floors take it.  I mean- its very close- but I can still tell it is not the exact same color and it bugs. 2) I had the walls painted white so they would show off the photography- like an art gallery. I love it, but painting a room white just went against every fiber of my being, so I wanted to do something dramatic with the ceiling. I chose “metallic” paint… which does not look so metallic because I got it in the matte finish. I don’t know what I was thinking- I definitely should have gotten a different finish. So the ceilings are gray. A very pretty gray, but not the sparkly metallic I was hoping for.

Anyway, I would so love it if you would check out the new site and “like” me on Facebook. I am definitely going to have some good deals for clients that are hooked up with my Facebook page.
