Sarah is my nanny/errand runner/math tutor/soccer practice Uber driver/grocery shopper/laundress. So in other words, I would have a hard time doing it without her. She is headed to Texas A&M (whoop!) in the fall and we are going to miss her like crazy. She loves flowers, so we took full advantage of the flowers growing alongside the side of the road. I’ve got to tell you- it’s not the most comfortable situation laying on the side of a busy street, in the grass, in a dress, with 784 mosquitos buzzing around, AND with 8,976 drivers speeding past, but she pulled it off and looks SO amazing!

OK, OK, Carly is not actually a senior. I did her senior photos a couple of years ago and she needed new ones for some dance auditions as she is currently a Houston Rockets Power Dancer. Always so much fun to photograph with the best clothes, this girl has got it going on!the woodlands texas senior photographer_spryART.com

I am loving this session I did with this gorgeous senior! I have to be honest, I was SO nervous because I had never shot a senior in this location, but was so pleased with the results! She looks like a cross between Angelina Jolie and Hilary Duff eh?

OK, I am way behind on blogging (what’s new? I sound like a broken record, I know), but I know they are dying for a sneak peek! Mom bought this senior session at a charity auction I donated to, and man am I glad she did! We had so much fun with her pre-session wardrobe consultation, hair/makeup the day of the session and then the session itself. They had a lot of ideas that I was very excited to incorporate into the session and HEELLLOOOOO amazing red shirt!!! I’m not sure I could love a top any more than I love this red shirt.

My Kaylee walked into my office as I was editing these and asked if she was a supermodel. Yep… pretty much.

She had minimal makeup on and her beauty shines through…

What a fantastic session with a lovely girl.

I could photograph seniors all freaking day. I LOVE their clothes and I get great hair tips from them- even if I never actually DO anything with my hair, it’s nice to find out what’s possible! I just have no curling iron skills AT ALL  Wah.

I photographed her lovely older sister a couple of years ago and was SO excited when mom called me to photograph her. Isn’t she beautiful with just a little touch of exoticness (is that even a word?)?

These lovelies showed me a picture of them together when they were FOUR. They have been best friends ever since and we did their senior session together.

I love hearing about friendships like this. It’s so rare and absolutely priceless!

This year alone, approximately 13,500 parents will have to listen to a doctor tell them, “Your child has cancer.”  Can you imagine?

I am so honored to be accepted as part of this project.  The Gold Hope Project is a group of photographers that have come together to capture the moments that  families fighting childhood cancer hold so dear to their heart. We have all been given a gift that we would like to share with those families, completely free of charge.

These purposes include:

  • Capturing images of any child 21 and under with a Cancer diagnosis
  • Educating communities in which we live about Pediatric Cancer
  • Support, Encourage and raise funds for Pediatric Cancer Research
  • Resources for families who are facing a recent diagnosis
  • Support community of other families who are facing similar Cancer diagnosis
  • To photograph any child 21  and under with a current of past cancer diagnosis. They can be at any stages of treatment of be a childhood survivor.

Please help me spread the word about The Gold Hope Project! It is a relatively new organization and we can’t help the families if no one knows about us.

whoo hoo, I am out of the weeds! I was working like a crazy person October- December, which is why the blog posts have been few and far between. But I have a LOT of beautiful people to catch up on, starting with some seniors!

*sigh* , I get these best seniors to photograph. Seriously, I don’t know that I was this poised, intelligent, or sweet at their age. I especially love how many really, REALLY awesome athletes I photograph. This one is going to play golf in college (Is this the time to admit I only applied to one school and it was because I went for a visit and had a lot of fun at a party and based my entire academic future on those good times? No? Not the time to admit that? OK).

This profile shot reminds me of a Monet painting.

Lovely.

This girl is a GO-GETTER! She originally contacted me to ask if I had a senior rep program and later described all of the marketing she would do for me if she was my rep.  I had thought about doing a program, but never had the time to put anything formal together. After talking to her a bit more, I decided I just couldn’t resist her pitch. I mean, at her age, there was no way I was assertive enough to put myself out there like that, so I had to admire her spunk!

And spunky she was!  We were a bit short on time (and light!) as we headed into downtown Houston, so I had her running around the city in heels. I would say she is looking pretty cool and relaxed despite the fact!

I love urban shoots!

And the last shot of the evening. It was dark… REALLY dark, and I didn’t know if this would turn out or not, but was very pleased with the result! It just might be my favorite shot :-)!

It was upper nineties and about 1000% humidity for all of these summer senior shoots and these girls braved some serious heat!  Now that my kiddos are all in school (and I’m a mess of conflicing emotions- *sniff*, *YAY!*, *boo-hoo*, *whoopie!*), I have some more time to blog- whoop!

Let’s start with all of my GORGEOUS August seniors.

At one point during this next shoot, I paused while tramping through some bushes, and asked her – “Um… what are those?” while pointing at a swarm of huge.red.flying.insects. We both took off running as about two dozen really p.o.’ed wasps came from under a log and took chase. I swatted one away from my arse just as I took a hit in the calf from one particularly mad little booger, but thankfully they missed her!

Regarding this NEXT set of pictures… did you know there is a NATIONAL HELIUM shortage? I tried to get balloons the first day of school, then a week later for Kaylee’s birthday and the stores were totally out of helium. My only options were balloons filled with air mounted on sticks… which was not quite the look I was going for. Luckily, we procured these balloons right before the universe ran out of helium.

She is going to be able to show her grandkids these pics one day and say – “now you listen here!  When I was little…we had to CARRY our iPhones, they weren’t surgically implanted into our hands, we had to drive CARS to get from A to B, we couldn’t just ZAP ourselves, and would you believe it, but balloons actually FLOATED ON THEIR OWN!”

My next girl probably got really tired of me talking about her hair. But she’s a competitive swimmer and it just defies all laws of nature that her hair should be so perfect. NOT FAIR. My kid’s hair is FRIED from a summer spent in the pool… In retrospect, I really should have washed it more often, but chlorine kills germs so we didn’t waste any time with that bathing stuff…

And we ARE in Texas people… gotta have at least ONE cowboy hat in the mix. And she rocks it!
